How to Uninstall a Program
Today we are going to talk about how to uninstall (or remove) a program. This is a task that Microsoft just expects you to know how to do and doesn't provide much direction if you are unsure of the normal process. This specific tutorial will show you how to uninstall RealPlayer - which we highly recommended for you to do. RealPlayer has been known to cause a number of problems that you should not have to deal with as a computer user.
PCTUTS.com recommends that you download, install and use a program called VLC which can be found here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ to meet your media player needs.
You may follow the video tutorial above by clicking on it, or the written tutorial which follows.
Click on the START menu, select and click on the option for the "Control Panel".

Locate the option to "Add or Remove Programs" and click it.

Windows will populate a list of programs installed on your computer. Locate the program you wish to uninstall in the list - in our case, RealPlayer - and click it to select it.

Navigate to the bottom, right corner of the highlighted program and click the "Change/Remove" button to begin the uninstallation processes.

RealPlayer will populate a list of components to include in the removal of the program. If you are uninstalling a program other than RealPlayer and you get a similar message, consider the options carefully to make sure you don't lose valuable data. In our case, with RealPlayer, we DO want to remove every aspect of this program, so select all options in the list.

RealPlayer will then ask you to confirm your request to remove all associated data. Click "Yes".

You might get an error message like the one shown below saying the installation request could not remove all files in a certain directory. Most of the time, simply restarting Windows will resolve the problem. Just click "OK" to complete the process.

The full uninstallation process for different programs may differ slightly. In most cases, simply selecting the default options for any popup messages will suffice for an effective removal of the program. It is always a good idea to restart your computer after you uninstall any software.
